Welcome to the Catholic Academy of Sussex County’s Summer Reading Program for 2014!
The goal of our summer reading program is to nurture a life-long love of reading. By continuing to foster the importance of reading over the summer, young readers continue to build vocabulary, reinforce their reading comprehension skills, build a bridge to their next academic year, and experience reading as an enjoyable hobby.
Below is a list of different files for each grade level. Students are to open and download the assignment for the grade level they will be entering for the 2014-2015 academic year. Note that for some reading assignments there is a writing piece required. The writing aspect of the assignment is as equally important to the reading. By providing a writing component, students are given the opportunity to independently reflect, connect, and articulate through writing their understanding of what they read.
All assignments are due Friday, September 5, 2014.
*If any student has a question or needs clarification regarding an assignment, they are encouraged to email their teacher. Any questions or concerns can also be directed to Patty Klebez, the Supervisor of ELA Instruction K-7 at PatriciaKlebez@popejohn.org.
