Former NBA star Chris Herren to speak to Academy families on Feb. 28 on opioid addiction

Herren will be coming to Pope John on Feb. 28 to share his story with families of the Catholic Academy of Sussex County.

SPARTA — On Wednesday Feb. 28, the Catholic Academy of Sussex County would like to invite all academy parents from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade for a special evening affair with Chris Herren, a former NBA All-Star, opioid addict, and national speaker, to talk about opioid addiction, bullying, and hope. The event, called "Rebound: A Night with Chris Herren," will take place at 7 p.m. in Pope John’s New Gym.

Herren has been profoundly affecting young audiences around the country with his story. While he is known for his ESPN 30 for 30: Unguarded episode, he has been changing the lives of young people around the nation providing support, hope, and understanding of today’s child by sharing his own experiences. In the wake of recent tragic events throughout the country, Chris Herren provides a voice and keen insight of issues children are facing today.
